Hacking the Tumblr queue
OK, I noticed something kind of cool about the Tumblr queue: you can actually queue up posts that need to appear as if they were posted previously. Again, slowly: you can queue up a post dated from yesterday morning to be published tomorrow.
Why would you want to do this? When I go to the country, I usually take a bunch of pictures while out walking on our land. The resulting photo-essay won’t actually get posted until sometime the next week. It would be cool to post it as if I had done so the “day of”.
So how do you do this? Just create a queued post (ignore the date). Now go into your queue and click on the post. You can now edit the date for the post. The side-effect of this functionality is that if you ever edit a queued post, you will “reset” the date on it. The dynamic date for the post is only calculated when the posting occurs.
